Complaints ’bout Valentine’s Day

I love the way Indians love Valentine’s Day nowadays… said day being one of those stupid aspects of “Western” culture that people have gleefully adopted. Allow me to bitch about some of the things that seem to happen/revolve around this day.

It’s real fun to look around and see all these dopey couples… Especially all the guys, who will go to all kinds of ridiculous lengths to woo their girls. Buying their girlfriends all kinds of crap… you name it, he’s bought it…

• u gotta start with flowers… i hate lookin’ at some dud(e) who’s standing with a shriveled red rose in his hand, offering it to his girlfriend like they’re the fuckin’ crown jewels… get a life…
• cards, you gotta have a goddam card… i think all the people at Hallmark and Archies must (and do) laugh their way to the bank as they dupe people into buying cards for whatever fuckin’ “Days” they come up with. “Oh hey, tomorrow’s Mother’s Day” “Well, Half-brother’s Day is comin’ up soon after that you know” “Great! Let’s go buy some cards!!!”
• chocolates… won’t complain ’bout these ‘coz i like chox myself too. Nothing like juicing yourself up on some stuff that contains amphetamines, caffeine, cannabis, and other druggie stuff…
• i think restaurants and other eating places do some rip-roaring business too… and they always have some special dishes just to celebrate V-day… “Well Sir… not only is our deep-fried chicken bad for your heart, today, it’s shaped like a heart too!”

I just don’t get the whole point… if people really want to express their love to their partners or whoever, there are plenty of other days in the goddam year that are just as good… what’s so special about this one? You’d be better off loving your special ones a little bit all day every day, rather than going all out on the 14th, and doing nothing worth a fuck for the rest of the year.

On a different note, there’s the fuckin’ politicians and other undesirables who always have something to say ’bout V-day… special mention must be made of the Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal, VHP, and the other lousy bastards who look to get some political mileage and cause some trouble on this day… i was particularly appalled to see some Shiv Sena cunt say in the papers: “this year we wont cause as much trouble as the previous years since we have just won the Mumbai elections, and so we don’t want to anger the people” I hope these lousy motherfuckers and their army of uncivilized scum rot in hell.

More complaints comin’ up whenever the next abomination rolls by…
